A freelance project manager moves to a small town and witnesses a peaceful right-wing demonstration. It reminds him of what he learnt in school about mob violence in the American South and Nazi Germany, and modern news reports of violent demonstrations by left-wing supporters. The Window is part of the collection Gentlemen’s Agreement and Other Stories and also briefly reflects on women in right-wing groups and how they perceive their role compared with how the men view them. I look at how the protest march effects on the local town which happens to have more immigrants. There is no counter demonstration and it’s unclear what the locals think of the protest.
