#TheWindow shows how intense feelings are harnessed to mobilise and manipulate the masses to violence. The story is written from an impartial eye-witness account of a neo-Nazi protest march and draws parallels with history, extreme nationalists in other countries, and with the aggression of left-wing/anti-capitalist mobs in Britain. I briefly touch on the growing number of women in right-wing groups and how they perceive their role compared with how the men view them. There is also the effect of the march on the local town where there is no counter demonstration and it’s unclear what the locals think of the protest. The Window is part of a collection of short stories #Gentlemen’s Agreement and Other Stories.
